In full disclosure, I'm one of the 12 writers who helped co-author this book. I'm a Chicago-based journalist who specializes in quirky, off-beat features and have written for a variety of outlets including: Chicago Tribune, Travel + Leisure and Chicago magazine.
All of us tried to pick unusual information, topics to give insight in to lesser known Chicago facts. For example, Chicago is home to the only Cambodian Museum in the United States and how Nike missiles were hidden during the Cold War around Lake Michigan. Learn about why the Billy Goat Tavern got it's name, the types of movies that have been filmed in the Windy City and how things like Twinkies and Tinker Toys were started in Chicago. What a fun package of information on Chicago! My Kind of Town, Chicago connects fascinating trivia with places to visit. Immigrants, music, beaches, sports, culture in every form, cuisine in every shape, architecture, and the political machine -- this book has it all and then some. The book is as readable as savoring a box of chocolates. If you know Chicago, this book is a great reminder of things you enjoy.
