Fascinating Guide to History's Last Man/Woman Standing!Dec 28, 2009
Have you ever wondered who was the last Titanic survivor? Or the only survivor of the Mt. Pelee eruption? Or which child of Abraham Lincoln outlived his siblings? If so, here's the book for you. And it's A winner! Robert Hubbard and the Armchair Reader staff ran with the 'last survivor' idea and, in 2009, came up with this utterly fascinating and wonderfully informative compendium of "last survivors of historical events, movies, disasters and more."
THE LAST SURVIVOR casts a wide net that encompasses Disasters, Explorers, Music, World Events, Art, Native Americans. British History, Literature, U. S. History, Inventions, Entertainment, Military History, U. S. Presidents, Asian History, Sports, The American West, Transportation, U. S. Short and sweet: I can't remember when I've enjoyed a book more. There is so much fascinating history in THE LAST SURVIVORS, it's just mind-boggling. For instance:

Or which Titanic passenger/crewman lived longest? Answer: Millvina Dean who died in May 2009!
THE LAST SURVIVORS isn't a simple list of names. Hubbard does an excellent job of presenting background information to set the stage for each individual's claim to fame. You can read the book cover to cover or pick a section and just jump in!
If you're a history or trivia buff, you'll want to add THE LAST SURVIVORS to your collection. It takes a fresh look at history and comes up a winner. Highly recommended.
